What happens during a Reflexology session?
After the initial consultation to discuss any health aliments and working out a treatment plan you will either lay on a massage bed or sit in a reclined chair. Your socks and shoes will be removed and your feet are cleaned ready for the treatment.
The client is encouraged to explain to the therapist how they feel emotionally and physically during the consultation. This helps give the therapist a good over view of any areas that might need addressing first. This way the therapist can treat the whole body not only the symptoms through reflexology and also concentrate on any areas that need it, the therapist might need more time to open up that blockage working over that reflex longer with added pressure.
During the treatment, your feet are massaged and warmed up with ankle rotations, and rubbing to relax the muscles in the feet.
Then the real work starts, working on one foot first whilst the other is wrapped in a towel to keep cozy and warm. The therapist uses their thumbs and fingers to move over your feet in a routine to help eliminate any blockages. Working through all systems of the body, from Endocrine, lymphatic, circulatory, digestive to urinary. All systems are thoroughly worked on.
The therapist will note down any findings and then explain them to the client at the end. Giving aftercare advice which may mean going for further assistance mentally or physically for example if the knee/hip reflex is out of balance yoga might be suggested or a chiropractor. If the thyroid reflex is out of balance there might be an underlying issue with the client’s thyroid.
Reflexology hopes to rebalance the body to homeostasis, giving the client better energy levels, stimulate better never function, help towards migraines or headaches they might get, eliminate any toxins, can help aid some sleep disorders and if the client has pain anywhere it can help reduce if not eliminate pain in those areas.
We do not diagnose; we help the body rebalance.
What happens after a treatment?
At the end of the treatment, you will be told of any thing found during the session, this could be tension over the shoulder reflex, to a sluggish digestive system.
How do you feel after a treatment?
After the treatment you might feel sleepy, thirsty, need to use the loo more often or get a headache. These are all normal, the body is adjusting to the healing process and eliminating any built-up toxins.
